The calendar says August and the thermometer says 90 degrees, but believe it or not, now is the exact time of year that you want to call your HVAC company to schedule your pre season heating system check. The first rule of owning any kind of mechanical equipment is if you take care of it, it will take care of you. That rule applies to your vehicle, your lawnmower, and yes, the several connected pieces of equipment that make your heating system run effectively and safely.
Why schedule now? Well, for starters, if you are on a maintenance agreement, you are likely already paying for it, so you should certainly get what you are paying for. But, more specifically, most HVAC contractors’ schedule get these maintenance appointments completed for all customers prior to the first frost. In our area, this means they want to be on the other side of maintenance visits by the end of September. This is because as soon there is a first frost, that is about the time they get calls for malfunctioning systems (usually from folks who have not had their maintenance visits).
Remember, it nearly always costs more money to fix a problem than it does to prevent one. Take care of your heating system and it will take care of you!

Challenging times call for proven solutions. Now, more than ever, families are looking for smart solutions to their budgetary needs. Count on the Styer Propane Budget Plan to keep your family warm this winter!
How does it work?
The Styer Propane Budget Plan is not a payment plan. Budget accounts start each May and run year round. The purpose of the plan is to enable you to make regular monthly payments on your account starting in the warm-weather months so that you’ll have built up a credit once Fall and Winter arrive. By starting the plan in May, customers often have enough credit accumulated to pay for their upcoming winter deliveries.
To learn more about our Budget Plan, or to see if you qualify, please email us @ Styerpropane@styerpropane.com or call our office during business hours.
We have a pretty special relationship with safety regulations here at Styer Propane and we have since the day we opened our doors several decades ago. There are countless safety regulations that we are required to follow in how we store and deliver your propane, how we operate our trucks, store and install propane tanks and much more. And, we are happy to abide by regulations that the industry and government have put in place over the years, because it keeps all of us safe.
Right now, during this challenging time, our main focus continues to be your safety and the safety of our team members. With all of the changes taking place around us, it is important for us to recognize that this emphasis on safety remains constant.
If you have any questions about our safety standards, please feel free to consult this site, our facebook page or ask a member of the Styer Propane team. As always, we appreciate your trust in our business to serve as your fuel provider now and for years to come.

With January firmly in the rearview mirror, it is easy to begin having warm thoughts of springtime and green trees. However, February always takes its due and we’ve even had some brutal Marches in the past few years. This is why we let our will-call customers know how important it is that they call prior to their tanks getting below 30%. Cold snaps can hit at any time and so can debilitating winter weather. Frigid temps and nasty roads mean that our call volume goes through the roof and/or it becomes harder to reach customers as easily as we normally can.
For most of our customers, we offer automatic delivery. Styer Propane has serveral comprehensive pricing and service programs that factor into accounting for the size of your tank(s), the size of your home, the number of appliances you have which run off of propane and even the outside temperature over time (degree days). Using these metrics we are able to estimate the volume of all of the tanks for all of our customers we server every day. When a customer gets to a certain estimated volume, a delivery order is created and that customer receives a deliver within a few days. It is very rare that our estimates for our automatic delivery customers are incorrect. When they are, it is often due to an unforeseen variable. For example, if a customer adds a second gas dryer in the home and did not notify Styer Propane, they may go for a while using more gas than we may have estimated otherwise.
For those customers on will-call, please remember to call us for an order when your tank is at 30%. It is the responsibility of will-call customers to notify us of a need for delivery. We ask that you place your order at the 30% mark because, especially during times of high volume, it can take us several days to get to all of our customers. If it is snowy and icy outside and we have a backlog of orders, it would not be good if you waited until your tank got to 10 or 5 percent before placing an order. Doing so could create a risk of you and your family running out of propane.
If you have any questions about your plan or our policies, please do not hesitate to call our office to speak to a Styer professional anytime.
We certainly hope everyone is keeping warm this time of year. The temps have been going up and down a lot recently and it’s now out of the ordinary to get blindsided with a change if you do not keep on top of the forecasts!
It is a great time of year to count one’s blessings. Here at Styer, we feel very blessed to have great clients, amazing industry partners and vendors and, far and away, the best team of service techs, drivers and customer service staff anywhere in our industry. It’s been a great year (and a great decade, for that matter) and we know that a lot of our small business’s growth is due to the loyalty of our customers and dedication of our employees and none of it goes unnoticed here.
Please be aware of our holiday schedule as we get closer to Christmas. We want to remind everyone of our holiday hours this year:
Christmas Eve (Tuesday, 12/24) – 1/2 Day, Closing at Noon
Christmas Day (Wednesday, 12/25) – Closed
We ask that will-call customers please plan gas orders accordingly.
We do hope that everyone has a fantastic Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year. Please celebrate the holidays safely and we look forward to seeing you all in 2020!
